Mayan Science & Culture Department
The Mayan Science and Culture Department was born as a living expression of INEPAS’ commitment to ancestral knowledge, cultural identity, and the profound spirituality of Indigenous peoples. This space is dedicated to studying, promoting, and sharing the millennia-old wisdom of the Mayan people — not as a relic frozen in the past, but as a living cultural heritage and a legitimate form of knowledge that engages in dialogue with contemporary science and remains a source of deep learning.
Mayan science is expressed in its sacred relationship with the cosmos, its understanding of time cycles, and its mathematical, astronomical, agricultural, and medicinal wisdom — woven together with a symbolic, spiritual, and community-based worldview.
This department seeks to create a space where this way of knowing is recognized and strengthened as a living science — from the sacred count of time to the principles of balance with Mother Earth. The Mayan worldview offers a holistic vision that interlaces heart and mind, intuition and reason, knowledge and being.
From a respectful and profound perspective, the Mayan Science and Culture Department offers the following learning experiences:
-
Studies on Mayan culture and philosophy
-
Nature-connection retreats
-
Sacred ceremonies
-
Wisdom circles
-
Bioenergetic therapies
-
Dialogues and conversations
Each of our activities is designed for those seeking to reconnect with nature, with themselves, and with the spiritual legacy of the Mayan world. These experiences are carried out in collaboration with wise elders, spiritual guides, keepers of the sacred calendar, and guardians of ancestral knowledge — within an atmosphere of respect, reciprocity, and deep learning.
The department serves a dual purpose: on the one hand, to open a path of cultural exchange for students, travelers, and individuals interested in Mayan spirituality and philosophy; and on the other, to strengthen processes of cultural affirmation within Indigenous communities, especially among youth.
This department stands as a bridge between cultures — a space where ancestral science is interwoven with the challenges of the present, illuminating new paths toward harmony, dignity, and balance for humanity and Mother Earth.
